Our Mission

We built FenceCosts because we were tired of the lack of transparency in the home improvement industry. Too many online calculators exist solely to capture your contact information and sell it to local contractors as a "lead," bombarding you with phone calls before you even know if you can afford the project.

Our goal is simple: to empower homeowners with accurate, research-backed pricing data before they talk to a salesperson. We don't sell leads, and we don't hide our numbers.

Where Our Data Comes From

Our pricing model is built by reconciling multiple 2026 fencing-industry pricing surveys, trade-association installation guides, and retail material pricing from major home-improvement suppliers against each other — where sources disagreed meaningfully, we widened our published range rather than picking the most flattering number. We apply documented multipliers for height, terrain, and regional labor rates on top of that base pricing. Every formula and every multiplier is published in full on our methodology page, including where we think our numbers can still be wrong.
